“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to Byron, happy birthday to you!”
I’ve never actually been to Byron before despite having walked past at least 9999 times whilst shopping in Intu so I was rather looking forward to seeing what they had to offer!
We arrived at 8pm and I was pleased to see we weren’t the only ones dining – my worst nightmare is an empty restaurant and on a Monday I wasn’t sure how many people would be out for dinner!
Inside is lovely, it’s got a bit of an industrial look to it, with lots of metal and open brick. It’s got different area’s of seating meaning you’re not sat on top of the next table!
So, on to the food! This is where it get’s exciting!! The best thing about eating out with your girlfriends is that you always order lots, share each others and eat until you can’t move. It’s basically an unwritten rule..don’t pretend it’s not true!
So for starters we went for the Nacho’s with salsa, guacamole, cheese and sour cream, olives and because I’m captain awkward when it comes to food, a Nacho’s but with only cheese and sour cream *damn you allergies!*
I can’t fault it. I really can’t. I’ve sat here for ages thinking about it and basically drooling! The nacho’s are quite big portions but I’ll be honest…we didn’t struggle!!
A big thing for me when I eat out is flexibility. I’ve got a food allergy, it’s a weird one and not that common but it can kill me so I have to be super careful and more often than not get restaurants to adapt dishes to suit my needs! You’d be surprised how many places will let out a sigh or something similar when I mention it, making me feel bad for asking if it’s possible for a dish to be changed. The staff at Byron were fantastic. I mentioned that I would need all the exciting stuff taken off my nacho’s and that my allergy was anaphylactic and they couldn’t have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, and the chef’s didn’t even roll an eye! *yes i did look…hello open kitchen!* top marks on customer service Byron…top bloody marks!
On to the mains, all four of us went for burgers, two veggie and two meat! I’m not vegetarian..at all, but I opted for the Mushroom burger -Portobello mushroom, goat’s cheese, roasted red pepper, baby spinach, tomato, red onion, aioli. I also added some avocado because am I really a blogger if I didn’t! Holy smokes it was GOOD!
We also ordered sweet potato fries, Standard fries, coleslaw, courgette fries, avocado and a salad!
The food was beautiful and very tasty, you could tell it was all really fresh which I love. You essentially build your meal so purchase sides separately. Price wise, it’s on par with other big foodies on the market *cough Nando’s cough* so it’s perfect for lunch with the girls, date night or even just a burger craving!
NOW…on to the dessert!! My heart sank a little when they said they’d ran out of cheesecake but then I found the freakshakes.
Extra-thick milkshake stacked with vanilla ice cream, brownie, chocolate and caramel sauces, topped with crushed honeycomb and Oreo!! It’s the sweetest and possibly sickliest thing I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating/drink but OH MY GEE it was epic!
As you’re reading this, today is National Burger day. There’s plenty of places you could go to enjoy this great day but I honestly can’t rave about Byron enough. PLUS if they weren’t amazing enough already and if you’re not already drooling from reading my post, they’ve also created a special limited addition burger! Meet, GIZMO! Created by chef Gizzi Erskine it is a mouth watering 6oz hamburger, welsh rarebit- made from Barber’s Cheddar, Smoked Applewood cheese and stout – lettuce, tomato, red onion, mayonnaise. Sex in a bun right there!
So pop in, head over, grab a table because Gizmo is only available until 28th August!!
Now excuse me while I lay in a food coma!
**Our trip to Byron was kindly gifted, but all views are honest and my own**
